Chattanooga Chamber Music.....an intimate salon in the home of Kathy and Mark Perl.

hen I first saw the large rooms of our present dwelling on Chattanooga Street, I knew that I was on the way to making a long-held dream come true: to have an old and beautiful space, large enough to provide an appropriate acoustic environment for my instruments, including additional room to house a small audience for solo and chamber music performances. The very same year that we moved into our home, Chattanooga Chamber Music was born, and we are now in our 12th year.

The best part of our Salon is seeing in people's faces a discovery of the thrill of live music performance. Not only are they surrounded by the sound here, they actually become part of it by being so close to the performers. The interest, joy in listening and general responses are seen and felt by the artists. This is a marvellous interaction that one doesn't find in larger halls. In addition, the audience members can mingle with the performers after the concerts at a wine and cheese reception.

In an age when so much has been de-personalized, it feels good to be part of something which actually re-personalizes the experience of music for people.
